Western Baray, 22nd September 2012

27 River Lapwing, 4 Grey-headed Lapwing, 1 Curlew Sandpiper, 1 Long-toed Stint and at least 2 White-winged Tern with 10 Whiskered at the Baray this morning for a big SVC birding trip.
On board was Johnny, Srun, Kunthear, Nara, Tharath, Art, Naran, Mardy and myself, Rob Martin.

Waders at Kampot

A gentle drifting around the degraded mangroves and salinas close to Kampot on 2nd July 2012 produced:
Red-necked Stint 15
Curlew Sandpiper 8
Marsh Sandpiper 3
Black-winged Stilt 5
Whimbrel 50
Greater Sandplover 20
Lesser Sandplover 25

No sign of the Grey-tailed Tatler's seen by Tom and Howie at the same site recently but a lot of the waders were in flight heading off to high tide feeding areas in the salinas, this area will repay further exploration and will be amazing in the autumn...
